Movie of the week - Notebook

Bored on a Saturday afternoon, decided to indulge myself with a romantic comedy or something... went to Cinenow and rented this show.. the Notebook. Boy is it romantic or what! I've never seen such a passionate romance before (then again I've not watched too many romantic shows)... but this is really good. And the boy (ryan gosling) is so sweet and good looking too (not THAT is really important!).

"The romantics would this a love story, the cynics would call it a tragedy".......

Watched:
1) Seven Swords in Ipoh... quite good .. I was impressed partly because I had a low expectation for HK movies nowadays :P but the movie was not bad at all. 31/2 stars.

2) Initial D with Ah Voon, funny because of Soh Keong's character, movie not bad. 31/2 stars.

3) Charlie and the Chocolate Factory... really weird show... Willy wonka, willy wonka .. lalala...
weird but interesting... johnny depp with perfect white teeth! 3 stars

4) Wedding Crashers - a comedy about... wedding crashers!... starring vince vaughn and owen wilson. funny... 3 stars.

Catch-up - Aug 05

Hi hi hi! It's been a while since I write something here... been busy :P playing!

Now is off peak season in audit so it's been quite a good period...

Went back home several times during the months of Jul - Aug, just chill and hang out in Ipoh.. clubbing at Where else?, eat lotsa good food... menglembu chu cheong fun, wan tan mee, sun lee how fook restaurant for chinese dinner, secret recipe cakes, ah fung's sushi at parkson food court. Yup... been putting on some weight with all these indulgence!

Been having training in office, so lotsa yum cha opportunities at mr. teh tarik and yakun.
Also had the opportunity to have breakfast at 10 am (shhhhh....) man, hope such good life will not end!

On a more healthier note, played some interdepartment games this month - netball and basketball.. and will be playing street soccer and inter-cpa netball soon... its great to work-out and have some good fun with my fellow colleagues at these games...
Also went swimming at Toa Payoh and gym at Planet Fitness..

Next (wow I'm really giving a summary hehe), chill out session with colleages and ASEAN - have been to Introbar (nice drinks - San Shine and Long Island Tea), Bar None & Insomnia (both places lotsa OLD people! and I heard that they are SPGs' hangouts! but good bands though) , Thumper (my personal favourite, good hip hop music yeah!) and Wine Network.

All in all, its been a great 2 months... hope it'll just get better!

Managed to catch NBA Finals Games 5,6 and 7 (in Malaysia! Singapore TV doesn't even bother to show the final game, let alone the season and playoff games.. WASSUP with that?!)

Anyway, it was Detroit Pistons vs San Antonio Spurs.. I supported San Antonio but gosh... it's quite frustrating to watch them play... esp Duncan.. so SOFT! it's a wonder they won the game realli...

Wow.. it's been nearly a month since i write in this blog.. went home to ipoh (and so did not touch the keyboard) for 1 week.. was a good leave.. relaxed and played mahjong with mum and dad at home.. won their money :).. went to kl for a 3-days shopping spree at 1 Utama, Times Square, Lot 10 and Starhill.. .didn't get much things though but it was nice to shop at somewhere different for a change..

Attended Mun Chai's wedding, it was good fun and good noise we made during the wedding day ("chip san leong") and dinner. Made Ah Lun wore a bra and danced, if not we wouldn't open the door for the groom! (as if!).. Always, weddings are good as everyone's mood is a little better.. and it's a time for gathering for family and friends.. Pple make an effort to come home from their workplace (in our case, Singapore) for the celebration (just like it is for Chinese New Year). We meet, had fun, catch up with lotsa "yum cha" sessions, and leave for work - knowing that we will meet again soon (this is supported by the fact that we have another wedding dinner to attend in Sep! hehe) and with a hope that these friends do last forever! :)

All in all, Ipoh is really a good place to fall back to to get away from the busy cities, stressful workloads, crowded shopping complexes! Home is home :)

Weekend 11 - 12 June

Full of activities...

Saturday morn
Played netball at Kallang Netball Stadium with PwC gals and friends. Good game as usual, but really miss playing basketball... more action, freedom of movement, physical contact!!!! :) Anyhow, was feeling really energetic so didn't get too tired at all this time round.

Saturday afternoon and evening
Super shopping spree with Win Sim and Mei2. Ichiban boshi for lunch and crystal jade for dinner. Shop till we drop during this singapore sale.. Meimei chance upon a sexy white see through dress, Peksi was looking for a work handbag/briefcase, working pants and shoes, whereas I was looking for dinner dress for Mun Chai's wedding next week and working clothes in general.

Saturday night
Party! Clubbing at Newsroom Bar with Ray, Yan Xian, Hon Choong and friend and Kit Yee. Good fun but guess that's the last time I would want to go NB. They were having a JC Bash!!!! A bash again!!! So... the crowd was off, 17 and 18 year olds! and music ain't that good... too retro for me.. would have preferred R&B and Hip Hop (like that at Where else, Ipoh! Cool man!). But it was just fun drinking and hanging out with the guys since it was so long since we went clubbing together. Reach home at 4 am, forgot the keys so had to wake mei2 up! Thanks dude!

Visit to the doc

Had a sore throat and a slight cough today, so decided to stay home and rest! :P

Went to visit the doc, randomly pick a clinic in toa payoh (one under the parkway shenton group). Went in, register, then saw 2 old ladies came out from the doc's office... I was thinking great, my turn soon!

Then when I went in, guess what! one of the old ladies is actually the doctor!!!! Yes the doc can be like..70 years old, i'm not kidding!!! I was surprised! and kinda admired that! It's like a rare gem, 70 year old lady doc... and come to think of it, her patients (2 that I saw during my visit) are also like her age! I was so out of place :)

Anyway, she felt my pulse using her fingers, and asked me whether I do sports.. coz my pulse is healthy! rocks man auntie!!

And she gave me lotsa advice... eat fruits but not durian, mango or lychee. Stay off chicken for a while. Have steam fish, steam taufoo, drink barley! Dun sleep directly under the fan/ air con. Hehe yes ma'am.

Weekend with Chen Hoe in town

Yup it's sunday night when I write this, after a hectic but memorable weekend with Mr Chow and his sis in town. Tired now so the summary is:

1) Sat morning.. woke up late (due to yesterday's dai di session) so din have breakfast as planned with Hoe Ko. Met up at winsim's beautiful!! condo to prepare for the BBQ.

2) Sat afternoon.. Prepare BBQ and water bombs to throw at 14 boy.. In the end kc kena the most! wassup kc, slow reaction nya!

3) Sat evening.. BBQ, food rationing (had to go supper afterwards :P), good chat with Chen Hoe and of coz wat else but Bridge and Dai Di.

4) Sat nite.. More Bridge, Dai Di and Bluff!!! 2 decks of cards for 11 persons bluff! Raymond is sooo soo cheeky i think he is bluffing all the way!

5) Midnite.. More Dai Di and Bridge till 5 am in the morning! Standard la!

6) Sun morning.. introducing some of singapore food to hoe's sis for breakfast

7) Sun afternoon.. stone at home! then more activities at orchard road.. sushi, shopping, kinokuniya.

8) Sun evening.. dinner at crystal jade! good farewell dinner for Dr. Chow, who will be heading to the States for work in 2 weeks' time.

9) Sun nite.. Send off.. lotsa waving and pen-kissing... :)

Happenings today

Just did something out of the blue today, went jogging around St Michael's. Ha ha out of the blue because i don't fancy jogging really, never have the discipline to go on and on without stopping! I prefer other sports really, those where you can interact with others, and showcasing your skills and feeling good about yourself when you make a clean shot or a power smash or a good steal.

Anyway, yes i went out jogging, but the place's not that friendly to joggers... road dead ends, big dogs - not barking or anything but hey u never know when they would want to chase you when you run in front of them eh. But i came across a small park with a few, about 6, gym-like facilities! Yup outdoor gym facilities not sure what they're called but you can do some leg extension, sitting pull ups, stepping , u noe like those on informercials!

Then bought chicken rice (man I really do not know what to eat nowadays! feel so frustrated sometimes like eating's a chore and I just gotta do it to fill my stomach! eeeeeeeew I miss ipoh wan tan mee, liu fen, chu cheong fen, chao fun, mum's cooking)...

Came back dine in front of mei2's Mac watching Joey... funny funny show.. Joey is as dumb but as sweet as ever!

Me, the nerd, will start a thread to learn something every day... be it meanings of words, phrases, understanding history, culture, et cetera et cetera! How about that huh!

Watched 2 movies:
1) Star Wars Episode III
***** Legendary shows usually do not dissapoint! Yup like it... Thot it was a good closure... now I feel like watching the rest of the star wars saga once again... hmm probably didn't watch the last few episodes... too young then to appreciate :(

2) Madagascar
*** It was OK... thought that the trailer was made funnier (hence a higher expectation) than the movie itself. Quite short too 1.5 hours.

Next show to watch:
# Mr and Mrs Smith - can't miss Brad Pitt shows! So happens PwC is organizing movie nite for Mr and Mrs Smith on 15 Jun Yeah!
# Initial D probably... if I go back Ipoh. That's my motto, go back ipoh must watch cantonese shows... deprived of them here in Singapore :(

May 2005

Just started this blog, so to summarize how it was in May 2005:

1) Went home to ipoh for 3 weekends - had a good break resting at dragon ridge -yap and wong family's new house :) - , went clubbing at "where else" - a hip hop and R&B club at Tambun Inn , great music and beautiful people! guys nowadays realli can dress up man! with so many different hairstyles, short spiky ones, ponytails, and even long and curly ones! Had good food as usual, wan tan mee and chu cheong fan especially..and just spending time with sis, mum, dad, hoong, malaysia, fung, lun and keong..
Also played gim la mi, quite fun when i "game" 4 times in a row, earning RM36 in just 15 mins :) man gambling is fun!

2) Read quite an interesting book - passed on from Jolene - called Without Fail by Lee Child. It's a crime thriller about the assasination of the Vice President of US, how the Secret Service functions to protect him and to catch the bad guys with the help of an ex-army - who of course is good looking, rugged, and smart. And who fell in love with the main character SS agent - who died taking a bullet for the VP! :( . Lots of twists... Not bad at all.

PS: Hey, this has suddenly functions like my diary..

3) Had a freaky nite with Mei2 and Howard (who both forced me)and Evelyn aka Cupid - and watched Hide and Seek on a Sat night at Mark Cheong's Great World Apartment! Well, I closed my eyes on every night scene until the end when they reveal the truth.. .that Robert De Niro is David and also Char...lie.......

Good twist.. Reminds me of 6th Sense.. Another great show!
